From their very different vantage points, the US and Iran seem to have concluded that Israel is not about to strike the Islamic Republic’s nuclear sites. Some insiders devoutly hope that’s accurate; others insist an attack is vital

Republican platform committee's 'two-state' language on Israel's land, influenced by Netanyahu, Cantor and AIPAC

Former Senator Jim Talent (R-MO) quoted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to demonstrate that the original platform language was consistent with the Israeli position. However, earlier this year in January, the Republican National Committee adopted a resolution that some read as repudiating a two-state solution. Although, an RNC spokesman stressed that the resolution did not represent the party's position and that all that mattered was the party's platform.

Jewish Congressman Eric Cantor (R-VA) and AIPAC, the largest pro-Israel Jewish lobby, pushed for a "two-state" position to be included in the Republican platform. It was approved by vote last Tuesday (the day Isaac began) and is now awaiting formal approval at the Republican Convention.

Romney, Netanyahu, and Cantor were given personal copies of "Eye to Eye - Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel." They have been told of Israel's biblical rights to all of Judea and Samaria and the consequences of dividing God's covenant land. An Israeli official said they prefer a practical view rather than a biblical view.

Republicans Convention Opens:
Ann Romney and Isaac the Big News for Tuesday Night

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney flew to Tampa on Tuesday to join fellow Republicans seeking to put their shortened convention in the spotlight and prevent his message from being drowned out by a hurricane bearing down on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

New Orleans Tourism Welcomes
Southern Decadence - Aug. 29 - Sept. 3, 2012

New Orleans Tourism Statement: What began as a simple going-away party on Barracks Street in 1972 has evolved into one of New Orleans' premier yearly events: Southern Decadence. Held annually in the French Quarter over Labor Day weekend, this celebration of GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) culture has begun attracting as many as 125,000-135,000 participants from all over the world in recent years.

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans right before the scheduled start of the 2005 Southern Decadence.

Isaac thrashes New Orleans on anniversary of Katrina

Hurricane Isaac heads inland towards New Orleans as a Category 1 storm on the seventh anniversary of Katrina, with reports of water overtopping a levee in the town of Braithwaite in Plaquemines Parish, La.

Parish President Billy Nungesser said a portion of the roof of his home had blown off. He described wind-driven rain coming into his home as "like standing in a light socket with a fire hose turned on."

"The devastation of my house is worse than Katrina and the flooding in Woodlawn is worse than Katrina, so those things tell me that the damage on the east bank is worse than Katrina," Nungesser told The Times-Picayune.

Weather Channel:
Isaac moving at a snail's pace, pounding the Gulf Coast

Christian News

Hurricane Isaac made its first U.S. landfall along the extreme southeastern Louisiana coast at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday evening, then continued to scrape along the immediate coast. Isaac will continue to move very slowly near the Louisiana coast Wednesday. Since Isaac is moving at a snail's pace, the hurricane will pound the northern Gulf Coast with storm surge flooding, heavy rainfall, strong winds and possible isolated tornadoes through Wednesday.

"The men who have done the most for God in this world have been early on their knees. He who fritters away the early morning, its opportunity and freshness, in other pursuits than seeking God will make poor headway seeking Him the rest of the day. If God is not first in our thoughts and efforts in the morning, He will be in the last place the remainder of the day." - E. M. Bounds
