ClassicChristian: When Son of man cometh, shall he find faith? -Daily Light

If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only.

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. - Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. - Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.

Thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. - Serve him with a perfect heart with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts.

Behold, thou desireth truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. - Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. - Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

evening

When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

He came unto his own, and his own received him not. - The Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall from the faith.

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned unto fables.

Of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. - Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching. - Looking for that blessed hope, ... the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ,

ClassicChristian: Grow in His Strength -Streams in the Desert

Grow in His Strength

"As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: so the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange God with him" (Deut. 32:11, 12).

Our Almighty Parent delights to conduct the tender nestlings of His care to the very edge of the precipice, and even to thrust them off into the steeps of air, that they may learn their possession of unrealized power of flight, to be forever a luxury; and if, in the attempt, they be exposed to unwonted peril, He is prepared to swoop beneath them, and to bear them upward on His mighty pinions. When God brings any of His children into a position of unparalleled difficulty, they may always count upon Him to deliver them. --The Song of Victory

"When God puts a burden upon you He puts His own arm underneath."

There is a little plant, small and stunted, growing under the shade of a broad-spreading oak; and this little plant values the shade which covers it, and greatly does it esteem the quiet rest which its noble friend affords. But a blessing is designed for this little plant.

Once upon a time there comes along the woodman, and with his sharp axe he fells the oak. The plant weeps and cries, "My shelter is departed; every rough wind will blow upon me, and every storm will seek to uproot me!"

"No, no," saith the angel of that flower; "now will the sun get at thee; now will the shower fall on thee in more copious abundance than before; now thy stunted form shall spring up into loveliness, and thy flower, which could never have expanded itself to perfection shall now laugh in the sunshine, and men shall say, 'How greatly hath that plant increased! How glorious hath become its beauty, through the removal of that which was its shade and its delight!'"

See you not, then, that God may take away your comforts and your privileges, to make you the better Christians? Why, the Lord always trains His soldiers, not by letting them lie on feather-beds, but by turning them out, and using them to forced marches and hard service. He makes them ford through streams, and swim through rivers, and climb mountains, and walk many a long march with heavy knapsacks of sorrow on their backs. This is the way in which He makes them soldiers--not by dressing them up in fine uniforms, to swagger at the barrack gates, and to be fine gentlemen in the eyes of the loungers in the park. God knows that soldiers are only to be made in battle; they are not to be grown in peaceful times. We may grow the stuff of which soldiers are made; but warriors are really educated by the smell of powder, in the midst of whizzing bullets and roaring cannonades, not in soft and peaceful times. Well, Christian, may not this account for it all? Is not thy Lord bringing out thy graces and making them grow? Is He not developing in you the qualities of the soldier by throwing you into the heat of battle, and should you not use every appliance to come off conqueror? --Spurgeon.

Mil años: Genesage "El Housholds " (Cap 2:1b)

Mil Años:

Genesage

" El Housholds "

(Cap 2:1b)

En ese tiempo tal vez la mitad de su clase obtendría, que luego Debbie, que estarían observando con atención, entonces conseguir una mirada bizca y haz una hermosa sonrisa y decir;

Virtue* feasting on grace -Cathe Laurie

Feasting on grace

“Of his fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.”
(John 1:16 nkjv)

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
(2 Corinthians 12:9 niv)

You push your chair back and groan, “No, please stop. I can’t take another bite. There is just simply no more room!” And then out come the trays and cookie sheets, the pie, ice cream, berry cobbler, and more. You throw your hands up, “No, I simply cannot eat another bite!”

It is possible to be seated at a table so full of the grace of God that you have to say, “Stop, Lord! Enough, or I will simply burst.” Love and grace pouring on you so lavishly that it hurts . . . filling you up so wonderfully that it comes close to being painful.

There are many passages of Scripture that we will never understand in all their fullness. I remember reading, “Of His fullness we have all received grace upon grace” (John 1:16). I had the thought that we sometimes see God’s supply of grace as limited, something we should ration and conserve for the big trials, difficult temptations, and unstoppable sorrows of life. And I had to laugh to myself at the absurdity of such thinking. If only we could see the infinite supply that is ours for the asking.

How lovely it is to realize His grace in all things big and small. Here’s my list today:

I should be grateful to God for that morning coffee over devotions.
The sweet smell of clean laundry.
A hot bath at the end of a tiring day.
A beautiful sunset.
A delicious bowl of soup.
A sticky kiss from a grandchild.
A thoughtful compliment from a friend.
The sound of Greg softly breathing next to me tonight.

How wonderful is it to know that His grace will help me slog through the small trials too? There is grace for the way I feel in the long line at the grocery store, for the lost luggage at the beginning of an important trip, for the inconsiderate driver refusing to let me merge onto the off ramp of my exit, for the snippy remark from a cranky salesperson, for the one more thing that just got added to your long to-do list, and for the disappointment when a friend lets me down.

“My grace is sufficient for you. My strength is made perfect in your weakness.”

C.H. Spurgeon wrote many years ago about the sufficiency of grace for every situation. It was as though some little fish, being very thirsty, was troubled about drinking the river dry; and Father River said; “Drink away, little fish, my stream is sufficient for you!” Or as if a little mouse in the granaries of Egypt after seven years of plenty, feared lest it should die of famine, and Joseph said, “Cheer up, little mouse, my granaries are sufficient for you!” Again, I imagine a man on the mountain saying to himself, “I fear I shall exhaust all the oxygen in the atmosphere.” But the earth cries, “Breathe away, O man, and fill your lungs; my atmosphere is sufficient for you!

Go ahead, feast gratefully and frequently at the table of grace that stretches out of sight for eternity. Come for what you need in the small things too, any time, all the time. There is enough, more than enough for you.

LastCall: God is in Control -Raul Ries

God is in Control

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:24

As I study Deuteronomy, one thing really stands out to me. Moses is preparing the people to enter the Promised Land without him. He realizes he is done, and it is his responsibility to make sure Joshua is ready to take over and the people are ready to follow him.

Like Moses, the time will come when God will take me home, and I will prepare the people to follow a new shepherd. I never fear someone taking my position. God is in control. He can raise up whoever He wants. I am not capable. I do not think I am capable of running His church. I need God’s knowledge; I need to really spend time on my knees before Him to help me make decisions for this church and for the people, because I love the people. It is not my church; I did not pay for it. He paid for it.

We have to remember this: God calls us, God anoints us and God is using our lives. One day, God will be done with us, every one of us. We all have to prepare for that time.

What are you going to do when the time comes? Will you be like Moses, preparing the people, passing the baton? What a great example God has given us in Moses!

The primary test for life is not service but
love, both for man and for God.
-William Still-
